背面描述 Full-length cult statue of Venus-Aphrodite of Acrocorinthus standing facing, head turned to the left, holding the shield of Mars-Ares upright before her and using its polished surface as a mirror. The figure is rendered in a rigid, archaic hieratic style befitting a cult image, recalling the famous sanctuary statue venerated on the Acrocorinth. The colonial legend C L I COR is disposed in the field around the figure. The reverse field is worn and the flan shows characteristic casting irregularities.

附加信息

Corinth's colonial mint was unusual among Greek city mints under the Principate — it operated under direct Roman colonial administration rather than civic authority, which gave it a quasi-official character distinct from the autonomous issues of nearby Achean cities. Production under Marcus Aurelius at Corinth aligns with a period of renewed provincial activity following the Antonine reorganization of Greek civic coinages in the 160s.

The reference IV.1#5141 places this within the Roman Provincial Coinage corpus. Corinth's bronze output under Marcus Aurelius is relatively well-documented but not abundant in high-quality survivors, owing to active circulation in a heavily trafficked port city.
