| Beschrijving keerzijde | Zeus enthroned to left upon a high-backed throne, his upper body semi-nude, extending a patera in his right hand and holding a long sceptre upright in his left. An eagle stands at his feet to the left, facing right in a position of veneration. The date legend L Β appears in the field, denoting regnal year 2 of the Alexandrian calendar. The composition reflects the standard Hellenistic iconographic tradition maintained in Alexandrian provincial coinage. |

Macrinus reigned just over a year — from April 218 to June 218 AD when he was defeated by forces loyal to the young Elagabalus — making any Alexandria bronze from his tenure genuinely scarce by circumstance rather than design. The Alexandria mint, prolific under most emperors, simply had too little time to produce volume. The regnal year designation L Β confirms this is a second-year issue, meaning it was struck in the final months before the mint changed allegiance entirely.
