Caesarea Germanica, a small civic mint in Bithynia, struck bronze coins for Macrinus during his sole reign — a window of barely fourteen months between the assassination of Caracalla and Macrinus's own defeat and execution in June 218. The city had received its name and elevated status under earlier imperial patronage, and issuing coins in the new emperor's name was a standard act of civic loyalty, but the brevity of Macrinus's reign meant provincial mints had limited time to produce in quantity.
Issues attributable specifically to Caesarea Germanica from this reign are scarce in collections today.
