Reverse description Antinous depicted in dynamic equestrian pose, galloping on horseback to the right, his figure shown in three-quarter view atop a rearing horse with flowing mane and tail. He extends his right arm forward brandishing a caduceus, the staff of Hermes, identifying him with divine messenger attributes. The date legend L ΙΘ (regnal year 19 of Hadrian) appears in the lower field or exergue, confirming the issue to the Alexandrian year corresponding to 134–135 CE. The reverse exemplifies the accomplished die-cutting of Alexandrian civic bronzes under Hadrian.
