| Reverse description | Zeus enthroned to the left, his extended right hand presenting a Nike figurine, while his left hand rests upon a tall sceptre. The divine figure is depicted in a majestic, frontal-throne composition characteristic of provincial civic coinage from the conventus of Sardis. The reverse legend in Greek records the name of the local magistrate Gaius Iulius Ludus and identifies the issuing civic authority of the Iulian Gordians, noting this as a second issue (ΤΟ Β). The field is plain, with the enthroned Zeus occupying the full reverse design. |
