The emperor's youthful effigy is rendered in the characteristic style of Bithynian provincial coinage, with detailed treatment of the cuirass and drapery folds. The obverse legend runs around the periphery of the flan in Greek characters, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | A probable lectisternium scene occupying the reverse field, featuring a semi-circular object resting on a base line, surmounted by a wreath from which branches emerge on either side. Beneath this arrangement stands a basis supporting a vase or possibly a lighted altar. Flanking this central element are two standing figures — a female figure to one side and a male figure to the other — each positioned before a palm tree, symbolising civic and religious honour. The composition reflects the neocorate status of Nicomedia, commemorating the city's sacred duties as twice-honoured temple warden. |
