| Beschrijving keerzijde | Sarapis standing facing left, his right arm raised in a gesture of salutation or benediction, while his left hand holds a long sceptre. The god wears the characteristic kalathos (modius) headdress atop his head, and his figure is rendered in the conventional Hellenistic style found on provincial bronzes of Asia Minor. The encircling Greek legend, naming the local grammateus Philoumenos, runs around the field. The coin surface shows the typical patina and wear associated with circulated provincial issues of the Severan period. |
