She holds a globe in her extended right hand and carries a double axe (labrys), a pelta (crescent-shaped Amazonian shield), and a chlamys, attributes identifying her heroic and martial character. The figure is rendered in the broad, somewhat simplified style typical of Aeolian provincial bronzes. The Greek magistrate legend surrounds the figure, referencing the strategos Aurelius Sympheron serving for the second time, and the civic ethnic of the Cymaeans. |
