| Obverse description | Confronted busts of Emperor Gordian III, laureate, draped and cuirassed, facing right and seen from the rear, and the god Sarapis, draped and wearing a modius, facing left, with a cornucopia placed behind his shoulder. The juxtaposition of the imperial and divine effigies reflects the syncretic religious iconography characteristic of Moesian provincial coinage. The obverse legend encircles the busts in Greek characters. |
