| Obverse description | Radiate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gallienus facing left, with right hand raised in adlocutio gesture and left hand holding a globe; the effigy is rendered in the provincial Greek style with a laureate wreath and draped paludamentum over the cuirass. The obverse legend encircles the bust in Greek characters, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The portrait displays the characteristic late Roman provincial workmanship of the Cyzicene mint during the sole reign. |

Cyzicus held the title of neokoros — formal warden of an imperial cult temple — twice over by this period, a distinction the city pursued aggressively and displayed on its coinage as a marker of prestige within the conventus system. The strategos named in the obverse legend, Paulos, is otherwise unattested in the epigraphic record, making this coin one of the few surviving documents of his magistracy.
