| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gallienus facing right, rendered from a rear three-quarter perspective, presenting a military effigy with paludamentum and armour visible. The circular Greek legend surrounds the imperial portrait in the field. The die workmanship is characteristic of the provincial coinage of the Smyrna mint during the sole reign period, with bold relief modelling of the emperor's features. |
