(Translation: Emperor Caesar Publius Licinius Gallienus)
Reverse description Two Nemeses standing facing one another: the figure at left holds a bridle, while the figure at right holds a cubit rule; between their feet lies a wheel, a symbol of Nemesis's power over fate and retribution. The composition reflects a well-established iconographic type for the double Nemesis, popular in the provincial coinage of Smyrna. The Greek legend encircles the field, recording the city's triple neocorate status and the name of the presiding strategos.
