Reverse description Heracles advancing right, nude save for a chlamys billowing behind his figure, subduing the Cretan bull by grasping its horn and neck as the animal strains forcefully to the left beneath the hero's dominant weight. Both figures are rendered in vigorous high relief above a ground line, directly evoking the Seventh Labour of Heracles — a type particularly appropriate for the Pontic city that claimed the hero as its mythological founder. A club is placed horizontally in the exergue as the canonical Heraclean attribute. The encircling legend ΗΡΑΚΛΗΑϹ ΝΕΩΚΟΡ proclaims the civic pride and coveted neocorate status of Heraclea Pontica.
