| Mô tả mặt sau | Dionysus, the patron deity of the city of Tium, depicted standing facing left in a relaxed contrapposto pose. The god holds a cantharus in his outstretched right hand, beneath which hangs a bunch of grapes, and grasps a long thyrsus — the fennel staff wreathed with ivy and pine cone — in his left hand. The reverse legend in two lines names both the deity and the issuing civic authority, reflecting the important role of Dionysiac cult in the religious life of this Pontic city. The design is characteristic of the local civic bronze coinage struck under the authority of Tium during the Flavian period. |
