Additional information

The regnal year ΚΘ (29) on this coin refers to the reign of Agrippa II, whose dating system ran from 61 AD and whose territory around the Sea of Galilee operated under a degree of autonomy that made such local bronze issues possible — even under a Roman emperor as assertive as Domitian. Agrippa II had backed Rome during the Jewish War of 66–73 AD, a calculated loyalty that preserved his client kingship while Jerusalem burned. This coin was struck roughly fifteen years after that war ended.
