| Obverse description | Bare-headed, cuirassed and paludamentum-draped bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Bithynian civic coinage. The emperor's curly hair and youthful features are discernible despite the coin's heavy wear. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The portrait conveys the military character of the emperor through the combination of cuirass and military cloak. |
