Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Commodus facing right, wearing paludamentum over cuirass, the portrait rendered in the characteristic style of provincial bronze coinage from Nicaea. The partially legible Greek legend surrounds the imperial effigy in the field. The flan is irregular and the surface shows typical patination consistent with bronze provincial issues of the Antonine period.

Reverse description Nike, the winged goddess of victory, standing to the right with her left foot raised upon a helmet, holding a palm-branch in her left hand and inscribing with her right hand a shield affixed to a palm-tree. The composition is a well-established type in the civic coinage of Bithynia, symbolizing the military victories of the imperial house. The reverse legend, partially preserved, identifies the issuing city of Nicaea in the genitive form.
