| Beschrijving keerzijde | The twin Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux, depicted standing facing one another in full frontal pose, each holding a long spear upright at the side. Above each figure's head appears a six-pointed star, and between the two stars a crescent moon is placed in the upper field, the whole composition emblematic of the divine twins worshipped throughout the Greco-Roman world. The regnal date legend appears in the field. The reverse type is executed in the flat, linear style characteristic of late second-century Alexandrian provincial coinage. |
