Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Achaean colonial coinage. The portrait presents the emperor in a slightly idealised manner with the laurel wreath clearly articulated around the head. The circumferential Latin legend frames the imperial effigy, running along the outer edge of the flan.

Reverse description Roma, helmeted and draped, seated left on a throne, holding a long legionary standard in her extended right hand; a large round shield surmounted by a helmet rests at her left side. To the right, a youthful male figure identified as the Genius of Patras advances left, holding a short sceptre in his left hand and extending his right hand to crown Roma with a wreath. The composition reflects the colonial pride of Patras and its relationship with Rome, executed in the hammered provincial bronze tradition.
