Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Commodus facing right, depicted in the guise of Hercules-Roma, with the characteristic lion-skin knotted at the neck partially visible. The imperial effigy is rendered in the provincial style typical of Bithynian coinage of the late 2nd century AD. A Greek imperial legend surrounds the portrait within a dotted border, reading Α Κ Λ ΑΙΛ ΑΥΡ ΚΟΜ ΗΡΑΚΛΗϹ ΡΩΜ, identifying the emperor with his full titulature and the Hercules-Roma epithet.
