| Beschrijving keerzijde | Ares, god of war, depicted in full military dress with a crested helmet, standing facing with head turned to the left. The deity holds a spear upright in one hand and a parazonium (short military sword) in the other. The figure is rendered in the classical Hellenistic tradition typical of Alexandrian provincial bronzes, with an emphasis on martial iconography befitting the reigning emperor's association with military virtus. The reverse legend is largely illegible or absent on this specimen. |
