Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, with finely rendered curly hair and beard characteristic of his portraiture. The imperial effigy is depicted in three-quarter view showing the cuirass shoulder piece. The Greek legend is disposed around the bust in the field, reading from left to right. The portrait displays the confident, idealized style typical of provincial bronze coinage struck under Commodus in Bithynia.
