Obverse description Bare-headed, diademed bust of the youthful eponymous hero Kyzikos facing right, with finely rendered curly hair and a plain truncation at the neck. The portrait is rendered in the classical Hellenistic tradition, conveying idealized youthful features characteristic of civic coinage from the city of Cyzicus. The Greek legend ΚΥΖΙΚΟϹ, with a characteristically retrograde (reversed) zeta, runs around the periphery of the field. The die engraving is competent, reflecting the established workshop tradition of the Mysia region under Roman provincial coinage.
