| Reverse description | Full-length figure of nude Zeus standing facing left, his weight distributed in a composed contrapposto stance. In his extended right hand he holds a patera, and in his lowered left hand he grasps a thunderbolt, the principal divine attribute of the Olympian deity. The figure occupies the central field, rendered in a schematic but recognizable manner typical of provincial bronze coinage of the Antonine period. The encircling Greek legend ΚΥΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ ΝΕΟΚΟΡΩΝ, referencing the city's prized status as a neokorate (temple-warden) community, is disposed around the periphery, with the zeta again appearing in retrograde form throughout. |
