The Greek legend ΖΕΥΣ ΣΑΡΑΠΙΣ appears in the left field, with the regnal year marker L Η (Year 8) in the right field, dating the issue to the eighth year of Vespasian's reign (75–76 CE). The reverse design reflects the prominent veneration of Sarapis in Alexandria and the theological fusion of Hellenic and Egyptian religious traditions. |
