Persephone is depicted veiled or with a stephane, seated beside the enthroned Pluto who holds the reins, the composition filling the field dynamically. The surrounding Greek legend names the local magistrate Titus Flavius Isigonos and the civic authority of the Sardians. The reverse type reflects the strong religious and mythological traditions of the city, which maintained important chthonic cult associations. |
