Obverse description Draped bust of Empress Salonina, diademed and facing right, set upon a crescent. The effigy displays characteristic provincial portraiture of the mid-third century, with elaborately styled hair and imperial drapery visible at the shoulder. The circumferential Greek legend identifies the empress by her honorific name Chrysogone and her title Augusta. The flan shows some irregularity at the edges, consistent with hand-struck provincial coinage of the period.
