| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Empress Salonina facing right, set upon a crescent. The effigy displays characteristic provincial portraiture with elaborate hair arrangement. The surrounding Greek legend reads ϹΑΛΩΝΙ ΧΡΥΥϹΟΓΟΝΗ, identifying the empress by the epithet Chrysogone. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show green patination consistent with long burial. |
