| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Empress Salonina facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and bound with a diadem, the drapery rendered with fine folds across the shoulder and chest. The effigy is executed in the provincial style characteristic of the Ionian mint at Samos, with a dotted border visible along the coin's periphery. The surrounding Greek legend identifies the empress by her full titulature. |

| Reverse description | The renowned xoanon-style cult statue of Samian Hera depicted full-length, facing, standing rigidly in the archaic manner typical of the celebrated idol housed in the Heraion sanctuary on Samos. The goddess is shown in long, stiff robes with arms held close to the body, surmounted by a polos or modius crown, conveying the hieratic solemnity of the ancient cult image. The field to either side of the statue bears traces of the encircling Greek ethnic legend. The overall composition reflects the intense civic pride the Samians took in their patronal deity and her famous sanctuary. |
