| Opschrift voorzijde | ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΓΑΙ ΜΕϹ ΚΥ ΤΡΑ ΔΕΚΙΟϹ ϹΕΒ (Translation: Emperor Caesar Gaius Messius Quintus Traianus Decius Augustus) |
| Beschrijving keerzijde | A tetrastyle or columned temple rendered in perspective view, its peaked roof visible, enclosing a frontal eagle with wings closed and head turned. In the exergue below, the river god Chaboras is depicted swimming or reclining between two palm trees, symbolising the local geography of the Khabur River region. The temple motif reflects the colonial religious character of Rhesaena as a Septimian foundation. The composition is typical of Mesopotamian provincial bronze coinage of the mid-third century, combining military and civic iconography. The encircling Greek legend identifies the issuing community and its Parthian legion designation. |
