Prusa ad Olympum, nestled at the foot of Mount Olympus in Bithynia, was refounded — or at least substantially promoted — under Augustus and retained a fierce civic pride in its Hellenistic origins throughout the imperial period. Provincial bronzes struck there under Severus Alexander tend to cluster in the earlier part of his reign, before the military pressures of the Persian frontier increasingly diverted administrative attention from civic coinage programs in Asia Minor.
The VI#3028 reference places this within a well-catalogued but modestly represented type for the city.
