Caesarea in Cappadocia operated one of the more administratively consistent provincial mints in the eastern empire, issuing bronze coinage with local dating conventions tied to the Caesarean era — EΤΟ Γ marking year three. Severus Alexander had just secured sole rule following the violent removal of Elagabalus in March 222, and the eastern provincial mints were quick to align themselves with the new regime through fresh bronze issues.
RPC VI 6758 remains sparsely documented in terms of surviving specimens, reflecting the generally thin survival rate for Cappadocian provincial bronzes of this module.
