Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing right, seen from the rear, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Mesopotamian civic coinage. The effigy displays the emperor in military attire, with the laurel wreath denoting his imperial status. The surrounding legend identifies the emperor by his full titulature in Greek characters. The portrait treatment is consistent with the colonial bronze series struck at Nisibis during Alexander's reign.
