| Reverse description | The Tyche of Edessa is depicted seated left upon a rocky outcrop, holding stalks of grain in her extended hand as a symbol of the city's fertility and prosperity. A lighted altar is placed at her feet, and a six-pointed star appears on each side of the field, framing the composition. Below the rock, a river god swims to the left, personifying the Daisan river associated with Edessa. The Greek civic legend occupies the reverse field, identifying the issuing community. The overall reverse type reflects the strongly localized religious and civic iconography characteristic of Edessan coinage under Roman imperial rule. |
