Obverse description Bare-headed, youthful effigy of the hero Kyzikos facing right, depicted with idealized, classicizing features typical of provincial Greek civic coinage. The portrait is rendered in low relief with a diadem encircling the head, consistent with the heroic or quasi-divine status accorded to the city's eponymous founder. The legend ΚΥΖΙΚΟϹ is inscribed in the field around the bust, identifying the figure. The style reflects the local artistic tradition of the Mysian mint at Cyzicus during the Severan period.
