| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Severus Alexander facing right, the emperor's youthful effigy rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Mesopotamian civic coinage. The laureate wreath is clearly articulated, with drapery visible at the truncation of the neck. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan, partially visible despite the coin's worn surfaces. The portrait exhibits the broad facial features typical of Severan-era provincial die-cutting. |

| Reverse description | Tyche of Edessa enthroned left upon a decorated basis, holding ears of corn in her outstretched hand, her figure rendered in the conventional civic personification type. A star appears in each upper field flanking the central type. At her feet, a lighted altar is depicted. In the exergue, a river god — personifying the Daisan (Skirtos) — swims to the right, representing the waters of Edessa. The reverse legend naming the metropolis of the Edessenes runs around the periphery. |
