Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Septimius Severus facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear. The portrait displays the emperor in full imperial regalia, with the laureate wreath crowning his head and the paludamentum draped over his cuirassed shoulders. The surrounding Greek legend identifies him by his imperial titulature. The style is characteristic of provincial bronze coinage struck in the eastern Roman provinces during the Severan period, with a somewhat bold, high-relief portraiture typical of Arabian civic issues.
