| Obverse description | Draped bust of Plautilla facing right, her hair elaborately dressed and coiled at the nape of the neck in the fashionable style of the Severan period. The portrait is rendered with fine provincial workmanship, the drapery visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend reads ΦΟΥΛ ΠΛΑΥΤΙΛΛΑ ϹΕΒΑ, identifying the empress as Fulvia Plautilla Augusta. A beaded border frames the design. |
