Reverse description Dionysus standing facing, head turned to the left, his weight supported by a thyrsus held in his left hand. In his extended right hand he holds a cantharus (wine cup) above a panther crouching at his feet. The god is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition typical of Bithynian civic coinage, reflecting the strong cultural ties of the region to Greek religious iconography. The reverse legend in two lines or around the field identifies the issuing civic authority.
