| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, portrayed three-quarter from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and the cuirass detailed with scale or muscle work. The Greek imperial titulature legend ΑΥ ΚΑΙ Μ ΑΥ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟ runs around the periphery of the flan, partially visible through encrustation. The portrait exhibits the characteristic youthful features associated with Caracalla's earlier coin types, rendered in the provincial style of the Troad workshops. |
