Reverse description The reverse presents a two-figure religious composition. To the left, the celebrated archaic cult statue of Athena Ilias stands facing right, elevated upon a short decorated column; the goddess wears a kalathos on her head and holds a spear in one hand and a spindle in the other, faithfully reproducing the venerated idol kept in the sanctuary at Ilium. To the right, the eponymous hero Ilus, depicted togate and standing left, extends a patera over a flaming altar in an act of libation. The reverse legend ΙΛΙΕΩΝ ΙΛΟϹ in Greek characters identifies both the civic issuing authority of Ilium and the heroic figure, underscoring the city's pride in its Trojan mythological heritage.
