| 背面描述 | A warship (galley) with rowers and a helmsman depicted in profile moving to the right, the oars rendered as a row of dots beneath the hull. Two military standards are visible on the stern of the vessel, emphasizing the civic and naval pride of Cyzicus. The Greek legend ΚΥΖΙΚΗ ΝΕΟ, referencing the neokorate status of Cyzicus, is distributed around and below the central device. |

Cyzicus held the rank of neokoros — official keeper of an imperial cult temple — and this coin was almost certainly struck to assert or celebrate that status during a period when Marcus Aurelius was deeply preoccupied with the Marcomannic Wars on the Danube frontier. Cities across the Asian conventus competed aggressively for neokoros honors, which carried real commercial and judicial privileges. The designation ΝΕΟ embedded in the coin's legend is the city staking its claim in bronze.
