Obverse description Bare-headed or lightly helmeted bust of Alexander III (Alexander the Great) facing right, with flowing hair partially covered by a Macedonian kausia or helmet, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition. The effigy displays the characteristic idealized features associated with Alexander, including a strong jaw and thick curling locks falling behind the neck. A partial Greek legend curves around the field. The portrait is rendered in high relief with strong facial modeling typical of provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period.
