| Obverse description | Draped bust of Antinous facing left, bare-headed save for the elaborate hemhem crown surmounting the head, the drapery falling over the left front shoulder. The effigy displays the idealized youthful features characteristic of Antinous portraiture in the Alexandrian tradition. The encircling Greek legend identifies the subject as the heroized Antinous. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and crown elements. |
