| 正面描述 | Draped bust of the personified Roman Senate facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style. The figure is depicted with characteristic drapery falling across the shoulder, with the legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ (Sacred Senate) encircling the bust in the field. The portrait conveys the solemn, idealized character typical of civic personifications on Asiatic provincial bronze coinage of the Hadrianic period. |

Clazomenae, the Ionian city on a small island connected to the mainland by a causeway Alexander the Great reportedly had constructed, retained its civic coinage well into the imperial period as a mark of local administrative prestige rather than economic necessity. The strategos Kl. Themisto named in the legend held a magistracy that doubled as the issuing authority for civic bronzes — a practice the Roman administration tolerated throughout the conventus of Smyrna as long as imperial imagery satisfied the political requirements of the arrangement.
