| Obverse description | Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the front, with paludamentum visible over the cuirass. The imperial effigy is portrayed in the conventional military style of the Severan-Gordian period, with the laureate wreath encircling the head. The encircling Greek legend in the field identifies the emperor by his full titulature. |
