| Obverse description | Youthful, draped bust of the personified Roman Senate (ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ) facing right, the head bare and idealized in the Hellenistic tradition, rendered with flowing locks. The Greek legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ (Sacred Senate) encircles the bust within the field, partially visible on the worn flan. The portrait type follows the conventional civic personification employed on provincial bronzes of the eastern mints during the reign of Gallienus. |
