| Beschrijving keerzijde | Tetrastyle temple with four columns and an arcuated (arched) lintel, rendered in the characteristic frontal architectural style of Asia Minor provincial coinage. Within the intercolumniation stands a cult statue of Aphrodite facing right, the patron deity of the city. The temple type reflects the civic pride of Aphrodisias and its close religious association with the goddess. The reverse legend encircles the design in the peripheral field, identifying the issuing community. |
