Reverse description Full-length figure of Demeter, veiled and draped, standing facing left in a stately pose. She extends her right hand forward offering corn-ears, while her left hand holds a tall sceptre resting against her shoulder. The goddess is rendered in the classical provincial style with long robes falling to her feet. A circular Greek legend surrounds the central figure, filling the periphery of the flan and proclaiming the civic pride of Nicaea as first city of the province of Bithynia.
