| Reverse description | Standing nude figure of Hercules (Heracles) facing right, his right hand resting on his hip in a posture of relaxed authority. His left arm is enveloped in the Nemean lion skin, and he leans upon his club, which rests upright on a small pedestal or base. The reverse legend COL A A PATR is distributed in the field, identifying the issuing colony. The iconography of Hercules was particularly favoured at Patras, a Roman colony with strong Herculean cult associations. |
